Acai is just a fad diet that fails just like all the other fad diets. It's nothing special, it's not a miracle food, it's just a gimmick. Whose bright idea was it to take health and fitness advice from Oprah, a 200lb whale?

To lose fat:
1. DON’T BELIEVE THOSE FAD DIETS! DIET PILLS ARE GIMMICKS! Yes, Acai berries/pills/juice is a fad diet.
2. DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF! Unless you are tiny as it is, a 1,200 calorie a day diet is DANGEROUS and won't work in the long run.
3. Find the ammount of calories you need to eat per day to maintain your weight. Try this link: http://www.exrx.net/Calculators/CalRequire.html
4. Eat healthy and eat about 500 calories below that number. Eating too little will result in loss of water weight and muscle mass, not fat (what you actually want to lose).
5. Eat 5-6 small meals a day. This keeps your metabolism up. Each meal should include fruits, veggies, water, and protein. Oatmeal is great for breakfast.
5. Drink at least 64oz (8 8oz glasses) of water a day. No soda (that includes diet soda). A great FAQ for proper diet (and general fitness): http://www.liamrosen.com/fitness.html
6. Do light/moderate cardio 3 to 5 times a week for 30 to 45 minutes each time. Running, bicycling, and swimming are great for this. If you are obese, do low impact stuff like walking or swimming.
7. Do some strength training to make sure you lose fat and not muscle. Don't worry; you won't look like the hulk if you lift weights. Concentrate on compound movements like the squat and deadlift, to name a few. Check www.exrx.net to see examples of proper form.
8. You should lose about 1-2lbs (.45-.9kg) per week. If you lose more than that, chances are the rest is stool, water weight, or even muscle mass.
Be patient, be smart, and get plenty of sleep. If you follow this guideline you will be very happy with your results. Good luck!

We are all walking around with years of exposure to chemicals/additives in food, water, the environment, and prescription and over the counter drugs. An easy way to start detoxing/cleansing is with hot water and lemon juice first thing in the morning, but there are many products and therapies (infrared sauna, aqua chi) for a more thorough detoxification and can/should be done with a holistic doctor. While detoxing is good to begin to remove the chemicals from our system, it is important to then clean up the diet and put good organic nutrient-dense foods back in to the body.

the products depends on what you will detoxify. some are taken internally and some are performed by equipments.

Toxins in the are like free radicals that are stored in the body and such they are the cause of cancer.

In my personal endeavors to "rid my body of impuritants" I have discovered physical and emotional changes through certain practices. One is taking 2 Tsp of bentonite clay (in liquid form) per day. Once in the morning and once in the evening for good measure i guess. Do this for about 2-3 weeks. During this time you will need to take a supplement , and eat cleansing foods such as fruits and veggies. Lots of water is required, I drink about 3 qts per day if not more.(depends on the elevation, and how much you can handle. Anyways the clay absorbs toxins from pulling them through your stomach lining from your blood. It will give you an almost immediate energy boost. I also found red clover blossom , and dandelion tea is great for you blood and liver. I usually do this a cpl times a year. I definetly feel the values of it, and drinking alot of filtered water with a tbsp of sea salt everyday is a good practice all the time. When you are detoxing you are ridding yourself of the pollutants in food, the air, heavy metals,( use seaweeds for this, especially the dark brown ones) drugs and alcohol, and stress. Good Luck, Dont believe it until you actually try it!

I did a simple search on Pub Med using the search string "herbal medicine" alone. (Not even a specific herb, extract or compound, nor any other modality!) This simple search string yields 13,240 results.

These studies are published in journals such as:
Int Arch Allergy Immunol.
J Obstet Gynaecol Res.
J Ethnobiol Ethnomed.
Neuroscience.
Int J Gynaecol Obstet.
J Gastroenterol Hepatol.
Pediatr Surg Int.
Clin Cancer Res.
J Ocul Biol Dis Infor
Prog Neuropsychopharmacol Biol Psychiatry.
Clin Exp Immunol

... You know, these are just a few of the journals which you "skeptics" say must 'de facto' be ridiculous and shammy pseudoscience mags. (Snort!) And you would purport that all 13 THOUSAND (+) are just poorly designed drivel... that major mainstream peer-reviewed scientific journals chose to print? Seriously? Tsk.

Gentlemen... For shame!!!

The issue of detoxing is a hot potato as the Liver does this quite effectively.
However Liver doesn't break down all toxins, some are stored to keep them from harming you.
Toxins can also be stored in subcutanous tissue (fat).
Detoxes claim to flush out your Liver. Whether or not they work I have no idea.

I did do a fruit a water fast 6 years ago which had the effect of me loosing 6 kg's in a week. During the fast on day 5 I felt absolubtly terrible I suspect partly because the fat and glycogen stores in the liver where breaking down releasing toxins ( I actually felt like I'd been poisoned. After the fast I felt wonderful and started feeling crap again when the bear drinking and highly processed food started again.

I think there is something in fasting. I'm not sold on Liver clenses.
in the Gi tract there is an exchange of nutrients /waste products through the villi to and from the blood so having the Colon flushed shouldn't do it any harm if its done correctly. Faecal matter that has been there for prolonged periods can fester and compact. I wouldn't want that my Colon....
...Then again I wouldn't be too keen on tubes and running water up my jaxie either.
